Watching the eloquent speech that President Obama gave to AIPAC, it was easy to see how this guy got elected and how he just won the support of the Jewish lobby again. He knows just how to say what people want to hear, while maintaining his own agenda.

He carefully addressed Netanyahu’s complaints in a manner in which he completely nullified them. He redefined what he meant by 67 borders, as not really the 67 borders. But the biggest double talk was when he declared that every nation has the right to defend itself, yet claimed that he supported a demilitarized PLO state!

Reality is completely discarded by both the President and the Prime Minister. First of all there is no Palestinian people nor is there any legal reason to create another Arab state upon Jewish soil. Yes, there is a growing demographic problem, but the solution is not to give away parts of our homeland.

Two states for two people sounds nice but it is just not going to work. First of all there is no Palestinian people. And secondly the Arabs do not now and will never recognize a Jewish State. To them Israel is a democratic state which belongs to both Jews and Arabs. It is their hope that eventually the Arabs will outnumber the Jews and then they can turn Israel into Palestine “peacefully and democratically”. The Arab State that Obama envisions will never accept Jewish citizens, but the Jewish State will be expected to accept and keep Arab citizens. This completely nullifies the concept which Obama presented.

Netanyahu made a tremendous mistake by agreeing to any form of PLO state on Jewish soil. No matter how many conditions he seeks to impose upon such a state, his defacto recognition is a tremendous blow to the Jewish position. We simply have no right to negotiate any part of Israel with anyone, even for genuine peace.

Obama already gave lip service to the ridiculous concept of a demilitarized state. Now if Abbas either leaves Hamas or gets it to agree to accept Israel’s right to exist, then Netanyahu is committed to give away our homeland! Why? Why can he not simply state that Israel has no territories to negotiate. It only has it’s ancient homeland. We regained what we have today only because of Arab aggression. Had the Arabs agreed to the partition plan; had Jordan stayed out of the 67 war and not tried to destroy the Jewish State; had Egypt and Jordan decided to create Palestine on the pre 67 borders before 1967, then Israel would have been destroyed long ago. Now we are being asked to reject all the miracles which enabled us to rebuild our ancient homeland, and begin to dismantle our homeland as we hand it over to our enemies for “peace”.

Both Obama and Netanyahu must be living on a different planet if they really think peace will result from such nonsense.

The demographic problem is of our own making. It is the Israeli government, which refused to define Israel as the homeland of the Jewish People as it permitted Arab enemies to become equal citizens, which created this albatross. There are more than enough Arab lands to receive the Arabs living in Israel. This should be part of any peace agreement that we enter into. We have much to offer our neighbors. . . our homeland is not up for negotiation. Until we have a Jewish leader willing to take such a position. . . we have no Jewish leader. AIPAC, by applauding Obama’s political rhetoric only revealed their limited understanding of the challenge facing both the Jewish State and the Jewish People. May G-d save us from such leaders.

Project Shofar seeks to bring this message to those who choose not to see. It is incredible that the majority, both in the Exile and even in Israel, fail to see the obvious. They prefer to believe in the nonsense that we can make peace with those who seek our destruction rather than to accept the reality that with us is the greatest power in the world Who wants us to make real peace simply by accepting and demonstrating the fact that He and only He is in charge.

President Barak Obama is clearly a talented showman. He spoke eloquently about American values, while dancing between the raindrops to avoid mentioning the most important one, recognition of the Creator of the Universe.. This is not the first time that the President quoted the declaration of independence while skillfully avoiding mention of the Creator, which was part and parcel of that declaration by our forefathers.

Further, he augmented his stance by focusing upon the rights of all people all over the world to self determination and self rule. Again he spoke well… but made no mention of the Creator.

And, when speaking about the Israeli Arab conflict, like Clinton and Bush before him, he ignored the true reality of the problem. Bill Clinton blithely spoke of Arabs and Israelis “reconciling their differences”, refusing to accept the fact that those differences are clearly irreconcilable. Obama would like to see us overcoming our “mistrust” of Arabs who seek our destruction.

It is also noteworthy to point out his clear distortion of the goal of a two state solution. Not only is such a suggestion a non-starter, and one which will never be implemented, but all parties understand that any Arab state that might be formed will never permit residence for Jews, while the so called “Jewish” State will be required to accept Arabs. Even under the present agreements which see PLO enclaves in Gaza and Judea and Samaria, no Jews are permitted to live there. Yet we consider it racism to even think of forbidding Arabs to live in any part of our country.
I do not blame Obama for this ridiculous hypocrisy. I blame the Israel government for giving credence to a two state solution, and for granting citizenship to enemies who actively seek to destroy the Jewish State. The Truth is that, although there may be times when our leaders do give lip service recognition to our Creator, their actions indicate that the really do not believe in G-d. Our leadership worships the dollar and will cut its own throat to please what it thinks are the interests of the United States. This kind of behavior is an insult to our Creator and a denial of the great miracles He has performed in returning us to our homeland. For this we will be punished.

When Bush stated his belief in a two state solution the USA suffered terrible natural calamities. Obama just opened the door for more. .
There is a real way to bring true and lasting peace to the world. It is for all of Mankind to recognize that we all have but One Creator. He created the Jewish People to be an example for all of Mankind. When we failed to live up to our obligations He exiled us from our homeland and dispersed us all over the world. He promised us that the day will come when He will re-gather us from our exile and return us to our ancient homeland to fulfil our destiny. It is not our right to give away any part of that homeland to any other entity for any reason. Trying to do so is to deny our obligation as Jews. And, because it is a Divine process, no effort to change it will ever succeed, even if sanctioned by a Jewish government.

So I am not impressed by Mr. Obama’s efforts to make peace, nor am I impressed with Netanyahu’s acrobatics to please Obama. Both will fail. Israel doesn’t need American dollars nor American military aid. When the smoke clears all will see that the Jewish State has but One partner. The Living G-d of Israel controls the entire world and will use the Jewish State to prove this fact to everyone.

Ladies and gentlemen of the United States Congress, I stand before you today in sincere humility to apologize for the failure of the leadership of my country, since our miraculous rebirth, to honestly address our obligations to all of Mankind. It is my sincere hope to undo decades of misdirection and steer my country back to the path it was meant to travel. The United States of America should understand the role of Israel in our world better than most countries. For the United States was founded upon Biblical principles in an attempt to emulate the role that Israel is destined to play. The founding principles of the United States are far more than freedom and democracy. They were based upon the recognition of the Creator of the Universe as the supreme source of true morality. The Declaration of Independence clearly states that the rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, were endowed by our Creator, not by Congress. It is this concept, more than any other, which connects our two countries with such a strong bond.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States Congress, I address you, your constituents, and the entire world today to declare what the founders of the reborn Jewish State should have declared at the very outset of our return home. The reborn State of Israel is the beginning of fulfillment of Biblical prophesy which is designed to bring true peace to all of Mankind. Peace will never result from violating Biblical Commandments, rather by observing them. We have never sought war, yet we have been constantly under attack by those who would destroy us if they could. Rather than destroy those who seek our destruction, which is a Biblical obligation, we have tried to negotiate peace with them. Recent history has proven that this was a disastrous mistake. We have no right to negotiate even with peaceful attempts to part us from our homeland… how much less to even consider negotiating with those to still seek our destruction?

Yes, there are many Arabs living in Israel today. Most enjoy citizenship in our state and some even serve in our Knesset. While many are decent, hard working individuals, they are caught up in a web of confusion and delusion which decades of Jewish governments have played a large part in creating. Islam cannot accept any foreign sovereignty in what it considers to be Islamic land. I daresay that Islam today seeks world domination and considers all of the world as its land. This is not a threat limited to the Jewish State alone. What we in Israel have apparently forgotten is the fact that the Land of Israel has been given to the people of Israel by the G-d of Israel as an eternal possession. It is not our right to sell, give, or negotiate that Divine obligation.

The fiction of “palestine” was invented to portray the Islamic Goliath as if it were an Arab David. It is an outrageous but very successful piece of propaganda which has led to the acceptance of the preposterous allegation that a band of murderous Arab thieves from an assortment of legitimate Arab countries has a right to create a new Arab sovereignty upon Jewish soil. I have come here today to put an end to this fabrication. As Prime Minister of the Jewish State I hereby declare that we will never agree to any Arab sovereignty upon Jewish Soil. I also declare that the term Israeli Arab is an oxymoron which will be corrected immediately. From this day on citizenship in the Jewish State will be limited to Jews. Foreigners who wish to live here in peace with us are welcome as resident aliens. Palestine is a non entity which seeks to destroy the Jewish State and thus cannot be tolerated. Any individual who considers his identity to be “palestinian” is a declared enemy of the Jewish State and will be expelled. All lands presently under Israeli control are to be immediately incorporated into the Jewish State. The concept of an illegal Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel is also an oxymoron and is no longer accepted. There will be a mandatory death sentence to any terrorist who even seeks to harm a Jew.

The Jewish State has always held out its hand for peace. We will continue to do so. But we will immediately cease to accept as an axiom that we must treat the enemies in our midst as peace partners. No more will infants be murdered in their beds. No more will buses and restaurants be objects of suicide murderers. No more will our citizens be stoned and shot as they drive to and from work. This country has endured for decades what no other country in the world would have tolerated for a day. I hereby declare that Israel is the undividable homeland of the Jewish People. We hold out our hand in peace to all peace loving nations. We have always sought to help our neighbors and will continue to do so, but we will not tolerate threats to our security.

As such I hereby declare that the so called “palestinian” entity is an enemy of the Jewish State and will not be tolerated. One does not negotiate anything with enemies. One destroys enemies. The IDF is going to take back Gaza and drive out its enemies. Those who seek our destruction will themselves be destroyed. We do not slit the throats of infants in their beds. But we will not hesitate to bomb enemy installations even if protected by human shields. It is immoral to permit our enemies to attack our civilian population because they choose to fire upon us from mosques and schools.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Israel always has and always will pursue genuine peace with all of our neighbors. But we will no longer accept the role of punching bag of the world. Either accept our hand in peace or accept the Jewish fist in your face. As Prime Minister of Israel I turn to you, the American People, in the sincere hope that you will not join with the majority of nations which seek to destroy the Jewish State. You are a unique nation whose empathy with Biblical destiny should always see you standing together with us. It is the Living G-d of Israel which unites us. It is only with His help that nations exist. As His Chosen People we can never be destroyed. The world will discover this when they try to destroy us. I am afraid to say that it appears that this will be the only way that the world will come to recognize and understand that we all have but One Creator whom we are all destined to serve.

Thank you and G-d Bless America.

As Passover, the Festival of Freedom, approaches, we would do well to focus upon the fact that the reborn Jewish State is but a continuation of Jewish Destiny. How can it be otherwise? What other people in the history of nations was rescued from slavery from the most powerful nation in the world via incredible miracles, returned to their homeland where they built a powerful Kingdom and lived under the Law of G-d, exiled from their homeland for two thousand years yet still maintained their identity, and, exactly as predicted in our Torah, returned to that very homeland where they reestablished Jewish sovereignty? Could this have been an accident or mere happenstance? We tend to overlook the miracles which enabled us to return to our ancient homeland. It is amazing that anyone could look at Jewish return as anything less than an incredible miracle. Every war we fought was wrought with miracles. Yet we forget or overlook those miracles and continue to think that we are like all of the other nations of the world. It is this factor, more than any other, which causes us so much needless suffering.

The fact is that even today most of the nations of the world would like to see us disappear. Our very existence is annoying proof that the G-d of Israel is not just an old legend, rather the true Creator of the Universe who is still very much involved with His Creations. When the leaders of the Jewish State try to create peace by appeasing our enemies, they insult our Creator. They demonstrate that they are more afraid of what nations think then they are of angering our G-d.

Our Prime Minister talks of not tolerating attacks upon our citizens. Yet it is he who encourages those attacks by continuing to try to negotiate our birthright. Our homeland should never be up for negotiation. The very concept of limiting where and when Jews can build homes in Israel is a virtual concession that we do not believe that all of the Land of Israel belongs to us. A genuine Jewish leader would declare firmly and clearly that there is no such thing as an illegal Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel. He would also declare that there is no such thing as an Arab nation called “Palestine”. Any Arab who calls himself a “Palestinian” is declaring that he is an enemy of the Jewish State and should not be permitted to live here. And any Jewish government which chooses to recognize a Palestinian entity in the Land of Israel is a traitor to the country it alleges to serve.

On Passover we are reminded that we are a holy people with a holy mission. We are reminded that in every generation there arise those who seek to destroy us and that the Holy One always rescues us from their hand. Yet that is no justification for working with our enemies toward our own self destruction. . . even though He will rescue us even from ourselves.

Peace is a holy goal. It one of the names of our G-d. But it can never be achieved by negating His Commandments or denying our Divine destiny. As we sit at our seder table this year let us try to recognize the lesson of Jewish history and Jewish destiny. Let us realize that we have a part to play in serving our G-d as Biblical Redemption unfolds before our eyes. Let us not continue to sit on the sidelines and just wait. We have an opportunity to take an active role in this Divine process and help to accelerate it. The ancient cry at the end of our seder, “Next year in Jerusalem!” is no longer a futile hope. It is a dream which each and every Jew can fulfill right now.

Let us hear the words of the Hagaddah and be encouraged by them. Hatikva is no longer just a hope. It is a reality in which each and every Jew can and should participate. May this year be the very last year that Jews choose to live in Exile. Let us all choose to come home now, while we still can make that choice. Next year in Israel!!!

It may be that the latest terror attack in Itamar will have a deleterious affect upon the peace process. But more likely it won’t. Our golden tongued prime minister spoke eloquently as he condemned those nations who refused to give the same response to cold blooded murder as they did to Jews building homes in Israel. He expressed disappointment that the PLO didn’t condemn the murders as well. I wonder why he would think that Abu Mazen, the master mind of the Munich massacre of Jewish athletes, would have any regrets about the murder of Jewish children, whose murder he most likely approved.

I am continuously amazed at how, after decades of countless horrific murders of Jewish civilians by our Arab peace partners, our dauntless leadership continues to ascribe these attacks to individual “terrorists” rather than recognize that our “peace” partners are actually engaged in a war to destroy the Jewish State! Such a statement would be considered “racism”. Rather than being accused of racism we have chosen to limit our response to individual “terrorists” rather than take steps which can stop these murders. Our limited minds permit us to believe that if we apprehend and punish the individual “terrorist” that justice will be served and terror will be wiped out. Clearly time has shown that this belief is unjustified and simply not the case.

Most, if not all, “terrorists” commit their acts of murder with the understanding that they are likely to die for their efforts. . . and they are well prepared for that probability. In their minds they are soldiers giving their lives for their ideological beliefs. Whether we catch them and put them in jail, or kill them on the spot will have absolutely no affect upon the willingness of others to commit similar acts. On the contrary.. Martyrdom actually encourages others to emulate such behavior.

The purpose of terror is to weaken the resolve of civilians to continue to live here. And by “here” I mean all of the Land of Israel, not just Judea and Samaria as many would like to believe. This is a war in the full sense of that word and it is only our Jewish leadership which fails to recognize this fact and thus prevents us from winning.

Ideally, we should at long last recognize that Israel was not meant to be a home for all freedom loving people, rather the homeland of the Jewish people alone. If others want to live here as non-citizens with human rights, not civil rights, that is one thing. But if others are accepted to live as equal citizens here while denying our rights and declaring that our homeland is really theirs, this is a recipe for self destruction and the very path we currently tread.

Given our pathological need to prove that we are not racists, we have chosen to accept our enemies as equal citizens and even permit them to sit in our Knesset!! Recognizing the unlikelihood of changing this self denigrating position, at the very least we must take steps that can discourage, if not eliminate these acts of murder. If the individual “terrorist” is prepared to die for his efforts, then we must find a price that he will be unprepared to pay. If a suicide murderer knows that his act will lead not only to his death, but the destruction of his village and the deportation of his loved ones, that might have a mitigating affect upon his decision and that of others like him. And even if not, such a policy can eventually remove our enemies, albeit at a far slower pace than is desirable. There are those who would deplore this as collective punishment. But isn’t that what war is? Has there ever been a war which did not see the killing of innocent civilians? What kind of morality justifies our enemies murdering our civilians while declaring it to be wrong to deter murder via “collective punishment”?

I listen to our leaders and am appalled by their continued refusal to see that we are still enduring the war for independence and not even trying to win! Netanyahu is still trying to compromise with our homeland while our enemies are still murdering us. Were he a genuine Jewish leader he would stop all negotiations, revoke citizenship of all non Jews, take back all lands under PLO control, remove all hostile enemies from Jewish soil, and permit Jews to build homes all over our homeland. This is not a radical idea. It is common sense and practiced by every other country in the world. Only in Israel do we respect the right of our enemies to try to destroy us.

When will our leaders finally understand that we are a nation that stands alone not to be reckoned among the nations of the world? When will they realize that no sacrifice we make will satisfy our “peace partners” other than total self destruction? And when will we stop the course of step by step self destruction which is still our national policy?

Yes, Mr. Netanyahu, your eloquent words evoke sympathy. But it is high time that we stop striving for sympathy and begin to act as proud Jews who would rather be called racists than be eulogized. You can stop terror if you really want to. Last time you were prime minister you gave Arafat the hills overlooking the Jewish community of Hebron from which a PLO sniper murdered another Jewish infant. So stop pretending to be surprised when they continue to murder our children. Unless you decide to win the war that is being waged against us they will continue to murder our children.

This is the key question which most are simply unwilling to address. It is the reason we have so much turmoil in our world. As we watch dictators in the Arab world being deposed after decades of complete control it makes you wonder. Have the masses decided to adopt “democracy”? Is this what is happening all over the world? I think not.

Democracy assumes that the majority is always right. But this is not always true. But, worse than this, human nature prefers to assign authority to a charismatic leader. As regimes are toppled we will see new dictators emerge. And, more than this, we will begin to see the true character of the nations who allegedly accept Israel. Our stalwart peace partner, Egypt, has a population which hated Mubarak for forging relations with Israel. His replacement will clearly not repeat that “mistake”. Turkey, another stalwart ally of Israel, has already shown its contempt for the Jewish State above and beyond the “flotilla” incident. Jordan, as well, despite its diplomatic image, has a rabid hatred for the Jewish State. If Abdullah wants to retain his throne he will have to show his people that he hates Israel as well.I don’t know why I need to state the obvious, other than the fact that most people prefer not to see unpleasant realities, but the PLO and Hamas are not peace partners, rather enemies dedicated to our complete destruction.

The leadership of the Jewish State has an obligation to stop trying to please the nations by participating in efforts aimed toward our destruction. The Jewish State was reborn via miracles. We have no right to apologize for those miracles. On the contrary. We must augment them with human miracles. We must defy the nations of the world and accept our role to be a light unto the nations. It we, and only we, who are destined to prove to the nations of the world that it is the Creator of the Universe who is in charge. Rather than trying to make peace by spitting in His face, we should stand against all odds and defy all those who challenge our exclusive right to our homeland.

In the history of nations was there ever a nation which agreed to a moratorium of building within its own homeland? Was there ever a nation which expelled her own citizens from their rightful homes? Since when was fighting an enemy who seeks your destruction been termed “racism”? The greatest challenge to the Jewish State today is the self degradation of our own leadership. But this too we will survive. We have a G-dly destiny that no power on Earth can alter, not even our own leadership.

Yes, indeed, Iran is planning to lead the effort to destroy Israel. Yes, all of the Arab nations are uniting in that effort. And our most enduring ally, the United States of America, will not save us from the Arab onslaught. . . she may even end up aiding our enemies in that futile effort.

The end game is to prove to the entire world that the Living G-d of Israel is in charge. It is too bad that human nature will force this lesson to be learned the hard way. Those who join in the battle to destroy Israel seek to prove that there is no Creator. And that is why they will themselves be destroyed.

As I continue to wake up every morning for pre-dawn prayers at the Cave of Machpela in Hebron, I still marvel at the fact that here I am, a Jew born in the United States, living in the City of Abraham and praying by his burial place. I have raised my children here and am watching my grandchildren grow up here as well. This is my own personal miracle and it only gives me strength in the conviction that our national miracles are guaranteed. It pains me that so many of my brothers fail to understand their role in the climax of Jewish destiny, and that by willingly accepting that role they can have true peace and happiness in their lives.

Redemption is not and cannot be a static process. Once it begins it must continue unto completion. Unfortunately Israel does not have leaders who understand this process. They seek to create peace by violating Jewish principles and trying to negate miracles. When leadership is lacking the Creator of the Universe creates situations which force our leaders to take actions which they otherwise would never have dreamed of taking.Egypt’s president has enjoyed decades of relatively unchallenged leadership. This sudden uprising seems to have come from nowhere. Overnight our most stable ally has become completely unstable. This should serve as a warning to our leaders that no Arab country can be counted upon as a stable partner for peace. Our government has been building castles upon sand and is only now beginning to see what happens when even a minor storm engulfs those castles. Can anyone honestly expect that the wonderful peace treaty that we have with Egypt will survive the overthrow of Mubarak’s government?

Israeli leaders have been deceiving themselves into believing that Israel can really live in peace with any Arab nation. While our leaders laud the peace agreements, the Arabs simply look upon them as building blocks upon which Israel will eventually be destroyed. Egypt, even under Mubarak, used the so called “peace” to build up a powerful army. Although certainly Egypt does have enemies, there can be no doubt that these weapons are being prepared for use against Israel.

And the non-entity called “Jordan” is no different. It too is an enemy in waiting. If King Abdullah continues the pretend peace he has with Israel, he too will face an uprising such as we now see in Egypt. The natural status for all Arab nations is to seek the destruction of Israel. When it failed in war, it tried lulling us into a false peace. The tactic actually was a good one as the Jewish State was harmed more by the peace process than it was by any war waged against it.

But the Arab world is growing impatient. In spite of its successful war of peaceful attrition, Israel is still a formidable military power and shows no signs of disappearing. With Iran on the brink of nuclear capabilities and its open declaration of intent to destroy Israel, the Arab nations are encouraged to go back to plan A. Thus all proponents of peace with Israel are targets of the ever growing groundswell of grassroots Arab desire to destroy the Jewish state.

Israel’s self delusion of making peace with her enemies will soon fall apart completely. Yes, indeed, the situation seems and will seem ominous for the Jewish State. What are we to do? Until now we lied to ourselves in the futile hope that we could appease those who seek our destruction. Now, perhaps, we can begin to be honest with ourselves. There is no hope for a peace agreement. While Israeli leaders may have truly believed in this path, no Arab ever did. It is time for Israel to dig in and declare her independence and natural Divine right to all of the Land of Israel.

While things certainly may seem impossible, the fact is that, were the Arab world capable of destroying the Jewish State they would have done so long ago. There is nothing normal about this tiny country. It was reborn under impossible conditions. It’s daily existence defies nature. Yet we continue to grow and develop in spite of all the odds.

Clearly we are part and parcel of a Divine process which supercedes nature. This very observable fact should instill a very deep fear in the hearts, not only of our enemies, but of our own leaders. Why can they not see that by trying to make Israel into a nation like all of the other nations we are defying our Divine destiny? When we spit in the face of miracles we invite disaster, as we have already seen. It is high time that we recognize the miracles bestowed upon us and act upon them. It is time to declare all those who speak of a palestinian entity as enemies of the state and remove them from our midst. It is time to cleanse Jerusalem from foreign elements who seek our destruction and deny our sovereignty. This is our country and we must make firm decisions to make it clear to everyone that we and only we decide what happens here.

We should have done this from the outset, but our leaders feared world opinion more than their Creator. This fact, more than any other, was responsible for the tragedies we have been forced to endure. The Divine Process of Biblical Redemption has clearly begun. It cannot remain static but must continue. If our leaders fail to follow that path then events will occur which will force them to do so. We are beginning to see this with the amazing Egyptian uprising. This is but the beginning. Unless our leaders change course more events will take place which will make our world even more unstable than it already is. We may not realize it, but true peace will only come from Jerusalem when we have a Jewish leadership that truly fears G-d

About thirty years ago my wife and I decided to move to Israel with our three young daughters. The move was not based upon dissatisfaction with our lives in the USA, rather upon a yearning to come home to the Land G-d promised to our ancestors. There were no “guarantees” and we did not really know what was in store for us. But we were young and filled with hope for a bright future.

Our first attempt was to live on a moshav shutafi, a cooperative settlement somewhat like a kibbutz. Moshav Katif was located on the Gaza Strip on the sandy Mediterranean coast. We were given a small house overlooking the sea and we worked with the others growing tomatoes and flowers in plastic hot houses.

After a year the members had to vote to approve our membership. They decided that we were not suited for their moshav and we had to find another place to live and work. A friend of ours had a friend who lived in Kiryat Arba. We contacted her and soon found employment and a nice apartment there. My wife, Andrea, almost immediately got a job as a nurse in the local clinic. I tried my hand at several different jobs until I found myself working with Rabbi Waldman at the yeshiva in Kiryat Arba.

Soon after we moved, our son was born to us. He was born on a Friday nite and his brit milah came out on Shabbat of chol hamoed Succot. Although we did not realize it at the time, we made history in a building which is over two thousand years old! The Cave of Machpelah building, beneath which repose Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Yaacov and Leah, and Adam and Eve, was returned to Jewish control in June of 1967. The Israeli government, however, failed to establish complete Jewish control over our second most holy site.
It was just prior to our moving to Kiryat Arba that the Israeli government agreed to permit Jews to pray with a minyan in the large hall of Isaac (where only Arabs were permitted to pray)… but only on Shabbat. As a result of that arrangement our son’s circumcision ceremony was the first ever to be held in that large hall! After prayers we all walked to bet Hadassah to join the families there where we had the festive meal, seudat mitzvah, in their communal succah. It was truly a glorious event.

Two years later our youngest daughter was born to us. In Kiryat Arba a family with five children is relatively small. It has always been a community of Jews who have a fierce love of the Land of Israel. Over the years we endured murders by knife and gun-wielding Arabs. We lived through two intifadas which included drive-by shootings as well as numerous stoning of cars on the roads. We lost friends in such attacks. Andrea learned how to treat bullet wounds. . . something they didn’t teach her in nursing school.

Our children all grew up here as proud Jews. My son served in a combat unit in the IDF. Today he is married with a new daughter, a rabbi ordained by the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, and he works here, in Kiryat Arba, as a school teacher.

On January 1 of this year I reached another milestone in my life. I retired from my job at the yeshiva after 24 years of service. It is hard for me to believe that I am already 65 years old, but, looking back on my life I am completely satisfied that I made incredible, difficult but correct decisions when I was younger. All of our children are proud Jews living in our homeland. All of our seven grandchildren were born here and are growing up here. I still have the old story books I used to read to my children when they were little. I now have to break my teeth trying to translate them as I read them to my grandchildren who do not understand English!

To say that I am happy with my lot is a vast understatement. I created Project Shofar as an attempt to share my happiness with others and to encourage Jews to express their faith in G‑d simply by coming home. In my own life I discovered that such an expression of faith is rewarded beyond imagination. Faith means proving that you really believe by taking steps that seem to be foolhardy and even dangerous. It is totally irrational to pick up and leave a home in the United States and move to Israel. That is exactly why doing so is a true expression of faith…

If you truly love G‑d and love being Jewish then coming home is a very normal thing to do… especially now when it is under Jewish control. Of course things are not perfect. There is much yet that needs to be done. But the mitzvah to live in the Land has nothing to do with the government of Israel. Each of the nations of the world has a guardian angel watching over it… except for the Land of Israel. G‑d Himself watches over this land night and day. If this weren’t true this country could not have been reestablished in the first place, nor could we exist for even one day. The existence of the Jewish State is a defiance of logic. It is a continuing miracle which no power on Earth, not even the Jewish government, can destroy.

Although I am now retired from my work at the yeshiva, Project Shofar continues. It is limited only by the generosity of its supporters. As long as there is funding I will continue to make trips to the states and elsewhere if called upon. Redemption is advancing at a rapid pace and the Exile is coming to an end. If we choose to close our eyes it will eventually vomit us out. If we but open our eyes we can come home as proud Jews and participate in the exciting climax of Jewish destiny with great joy. This is the message of Project Shofar. This is the alarm which I seek to sound.

It seems that the program doesn’t like to embed videos, nor does it like to allow clicking. Youtube doesn’t like to post videos much longer than five minutes and this video was about a half-hour long. I uploaded the video in five pieces to accommodate this need.

The conflict between Israel and her Arab neighbors is a religious one. The Arabs have a religious mandate to prevent any non Moslem entity from having sovereignty in the Middle East. As such they cannot accept the concept of a Jewish State in any form. The Jewish State has a religious mandate forbidding it to give away Jewish Land to any non Jewish entity, but Israel’s leadership has little interest in religious mandates. The Arabs living in the Jewish State for the most part share the beliefs of their Moslem brothers. Those who choose to call themselves “Palestinians” are, in fact, expressing their belief that Israel is illegitimate and that the country really belongs to the Arabs. For a Jew to accept the concept of Arab “Palestine” is to become a partner in the effort to destroy the Jewish State. I daresay that most members of the Israeli Knesset are unwitting partners to this effort.

The War of Independence which began in 1948 has not come to a conclusion. It is still being waged today. The biggest problem is that the leaders of Israel refuse to recognize the fact that we are currently engaged in a war for our very survival! Every so called “terrorist” attack is, in truth, an act of war. By calling it “terrorism” we are pretending that we are not really at war, rather contending with individual criminal acts. While we may apprehend and punish individual “terrorists”, we cannot end the war until we recognize it as such and decide to win it once and for all. In war even civilians are enemies. At the very least, simple common sense dictates that we remove our enemies from our midst.

There is no country in the world, other than Israel, which creates an axiom which insists that we have no choice but to live with those who seek our destruction. This axiom sees our enemies granted citizenship, and even sitting in our Knesset! Arab Members of Knesset are clearly working to destroy the Jewish state from within. . . and we call it “democracy”!

Clearly we have created a very confusing situation. Enemies are usually distanced from one another. In Israel we live together with our enemies. When you live together it is very easy to forget that we are at war. People are people with everyday needs and with warm personalities. Indeed, it is not unusual to develop good relationships with neighbors who live near you. One might suspect that such a situation is good. After all when we see that we are all human beings with similar needs and behaviors perhaps we can learn to truly live together in peace. In fact, to a large degree we do. And this is what makes everything so confusing. On an individual basis Jews and Arabs can and do forge good relationships. But on a national level this can never happen. It is easy to pretend that we can make peace with people who are really not so different than we. . . but to do so is a grave mistake.

The vast majority of the Moslem world is made up of religious people who have self-respect and would never consider violating their religious obligations. While certainly there are a few individuals who may do so, most would not. To enter into negotiations with those who cannot negotiate is an exercise in futility. Jewish leaders, who have no compunctions about violating their religious obligations, simply cannot relate to those who cannot, be they Jew or Moslem. As such our leaders sit with our enemies thinking that if we give up on some of our religious ideology that the Moslems will as well. And when they discover this is not the case, they refuse to accept reality. They begin to negotiate with themselves in the futile hope that somehow the Arabs will eventually agree. This is what Sharon did by unilaterally pulling out of the Gaza Strip. Rather than being grateful for Israel’s magnanimity, the Arabs took it as a sign of weakness and turned Gaza into an enemy stronghold.

By accepting Arabs as equal citizens in a Jewish State; by simultaneously recognizing them as a legitimate alternate national entity called “Palestinian”; by accepting their right to raise a new and foreign flag in the Jewish State; by actually ceding parts of our homeland to their control and defacto giving them recognition as a legitimate separate sovereign entity upon Jewish soil and agreeing to permit them to ban Jews from living there; and by even considering limiting Jewish growth in any part of our homeland, we are clearly aiding and abetting our enemies in their transparent effort to destroy the Jewish State.

It is hard to understand how it is possible for such a country to survive. Even the fantasy “peace” plan which envisions two states for two people is nothing more than another knife in the back of the Jewish State. This plan would see the State of Israel divided. Half would become a new Arab enemy state with not one Jew living there, and the other half would be a tinier Israel with Arab enemies within continuing to work at helping their brothers to destroy Israel. How any normal Jewish leader could entertain such visions defies explanation.

When we look at all of the absurd realities comprising the modern state of Israel the only explanation for our continued existence is the constant intervention by the Creator of the Universe. There simply is no other plausible explanation. Were the rebirth of the Jewish State in the Land of Israel not Divine Destiny there is no way it could ever have happened. And that supernatural destiny is the only reason this country can continue to exist from day to day. Just the existence of Israel should be proof enough to the entire world that our Creator is actively fulfilling His prophesies and that He will continue to do so. If the world would but open our eyes to reality no one would dare oppose the Jewish State. For to do so is to oppose the Creator of the Universe. . . a true exercise in futility which will only bring Divine punishment.

If, on the other hand, the nations of the world would stand with Israel in order to demonstrate their recognition of our Creator, true and genuine peace would result. The real obstacle to peace is our unwillingness to accept the reality that G-d does, always has, and always will control our world. Modern technology has many of us convinced that we are the new Creator. It is the Tower of Babel all over again. If we are to save ourselves from imminent and grave tragedy we must align ourselves to Biblical Zionism rather than oppose it. This is the only peace process that will work. The rest will only bring us harm.

Like Israel, Project Shofar is a tiny drop of Truth in an ocean of falsehood. The likelihood of it having any affect at all is practically nothing. It is an illogical and impossible mission. But when we choose to serve our G-d, nothing is impossible and logic plays no part. We just go ahead and do what we can and trust that G-d will take care of the impossible.
